Mini Drone Design/Build
Description
The goal of this quadcopter is to be extremely light, fast, and robust to withstand the rigors of beginner flight. Its main structural components are composed of waterjet-cut aluminum members with a 3D-printed ABS enclosure. The design is meant to invoke the image of a supercar, with aggressively-shaped angled vents in the front and rear. The quadcopter is extremely small for portability and low weight, fitting an entire GPS-assisted flight controller and all needed FPV gear into a frame less than 7 inches from arm tip to arm tip. It has five-inch propellers spun by 18mm radius motors and driven by 20 Amp speed controllers, meaning the drone has excellent throttle response and top speed. Additionally, the Runcam Owl Plus 2 CCD camera mounted to the front has a low-lux sensor for use in minimal light, including night flying.
